Updated: Nov 15, 2023

The bridge, constructed by Overseas Chinese Investment Co., Ltd. (OCIC), serves as a crucial link between Diamond Island and Norea Island. It was temporarily opened to traffic, garnering significant attention and receiving praise from Prime Minister Hun Manet.

Prime Minister Hun Manet took to Facebook on the 29th to express his admiration for the cable-stayed bridge. He hailed it as a remarkable national achievement, emphasizing that it was developed based on a self-sustaining model, known as the "brown sugar leaf wrapped in brown sugar" model. This approach signifies that the construction was financed by local developers, independent of foreign aid or borrowing.

This cross-river bridge connects Diamond Island and Norea Island and is connected to Highway 1. It will help relieve traffic congestion on the Monivong Bridge and facilitate people's travel. It will also promote the iron bridge head area and the east of Phnom Penh City. The economic development of the Highway 1 area in Kandal Province has benefited 200,000 people living there.

Wonder MESONG is a landmark building on Diamond Island. The opening of this cross-river bridge will greatly improve local transportation convenience, create more opportunities for commercial activities and economic development in the Wonder MESONG area, and help promote local prosperity and economic growth. At the same time, this bridge will bring a more convenient travel experience to people in the area and inject new vitality into the sustainable development of the entire region.

Construction of the bridge connecting Diamond Island and Norea Island started at the end of October 2020, with a total length of approximately 824 meters and a project cost of approximately US$50 million.

The Norea Island Satellite City project is invested and developed by the Overseas Chinese Investment Company of Cambodia (OCIC). It is located in Niru Subdivision, Chbar Ampov, Phnom Penh, covering an area of 125 hectares, with a total investment of US$3.4 billion, and can accommodate a population of 50,000. After the project is completed, it will become the city's commercial center and high-end residential area, integrating business and entertainment areas, luxury goods areas, residences, schools, banks, medical centers and many urban convenience facilities.
